BLAST DESIGN
COURSES
Attended by over 4,500 students worldwide. Trust the experts.
Videos and lessons developed over a consulting career, taught by a blasting professional that loves his job. This is not just another blasting course. Learn the theory, watch what happens when you get it right, and what could happen when you get it wrong. These courses are designed to give you the skills to have a lasting impact on your operation, with each course concluding with performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
These courses are presented around Australia, check upcoming courses below. Onsite training available by request.
This course starts with the mechanics of rock fragmentation by blasting, before moving onto geology. Key rock parameters are discussed, such as UCS and Young’s Modulus, and their role in rock breakage and blast outcomes. The course then moves onto detonation, what is occurring at the point of detonation and explosive properties. Explosive selection is then discussed. With the foundation of fragmentation, geology and explosives, the course moves onto blast design in detail. This is followed by implementation and QAQC. The course concludes by reviewing environmental blast emissions: near and far field effects of vibration, the 9 causes of flyrock, and overpressure. The course concludes with blast review and optimization to drive continuous improvement.
Includes: Effective Blasting Techniques course manual, delicious coffee and snacks.
Three days, face to face, course dates below, onsite on request.
This course is focused on delivering the knowledge needed for safe and stable highwalls. The course starts with slope stability and the key factors that you should know. Blast damage is then discussed, before moving into wall control blast designs. The mechanics of presplitting is presented, and how to get that perfect split. Wall control blasts are then presented in detail, including trim, buffer and modified production blasting. The course concludes with performance monitoring to evaluate the performance of your blast designs for continuous improvement.
Includes: Wall Control course manual, delicious coffee and snacks.
Two days, face to face, course dates below, onsite on request.
For shotfiring and shotfiring refresher courses, Blast Ability recommends Modular Training (RTO 51694). Modular training offer their professional courses in Queensland and Western Australia. Check out Modular Training for courses and enrolment.
